Learn the Skills You Need to Create a Comprehensive and Accurate Business Plan
For most property managers, the period from about August until October is considered "Budget Season" - and a large chunk of time is devoted to preparing a projection of income and expenses for the coming year. However, technically, we should refer to the time period as "Business Plan Season" - because a "budget" is not the same as a "business plan."
A budget is about the numbers - the income and expenses a property is expected to generate in the coming year. A business plan is a comprehensive planning document that provides a "road map" to help managers achieve the financial performance projected in the budget. It details the:
• Owner's strategy for the asset
• Specific tactics that will be used to achieve that strategy
• Research and analysis to support the owner's strategy and the tactics

"I began my career in property management over fifteen years ago, and I have had the pleasure of taking many of Marc’s classes to guide my development. From AOBA’s Foundation of Real Estate Management series to seminars on budgeting, Marc is a wealth of knowledge and one of the top educators I have encountered. I have referred colleagues to any course that he instructs, and everyone lets me know how much they enjoy learning from him. It’s obvious that he is passionate about education and development, and this makes him an invaluable resource to those looking for training opportunities as an individual or for an entire staff. You will leave one of his classes feeling motivated, inspired, and ready to take on your next challenge!"
Amy Natoli, CPM, RPA | Director of Property Management | The Brick Companies
"I’ve known Marc for many years in my work throughout the real estate industry and with BOMA. And in every experience, I’ve known Marc to be passionate about commercial real estate. He’s been a leader on everything from operations, to leadership development, to process improvement and real estate training. His well-rounded knowledge and expertise have driven value for many clients over the years but as important is his willingness to share ideas, give back and make a difference. He’s developed world-class CRE educational programming and is an industry-recognized instructor and speaker. Marc is hard working, responsive, service-oriented and always comes up with creative ways to manage real estate better – like the development of a Tenant Council to help better understand tenant needs and create an environment of engagement and “possibility thinking.”
